le galion

today was a lovely day at le galion - one of my top 3 favorite beaches on the island.  at the beginning of our stay we saw horses and ezra thought the white one looked like little old man from pippi longstocking.  we had a breeze blowing on us the whole day and at one point while swimming in the water i was actually cold and ezra was shivering.  it was wonderful to feel a chill and have to warm up in the sunshine.  in the distance we saw the kite surfers flying off the waves twirling in the air and landing gracefully back on the water, windsurfers speeding toward the shoreline, and the white caps from the waves spilling into the bay from the atlantic.  we waded in the water and walked out to the dock where we sat and took all those sights in from the floating surface.  clare placed stella at the edge and kicked her feet creating splashes and laughter from the kids.  we ate strawberries and graham crackers and again sat under umbrellas on lounge chairs in a very civilized way.  we also had a little visit with some island friends before heading home with a couple of stops at the french pharmacie and grocery store.  when stella and clare came over for dinner tonight you could see the sun in their cheeks and tell that they have spent almost a week in the caribbean.
