dean's list reception

 we walked to school this afternoon with jon and erica to honor michael, erica and the other students that made up the 15% of their student body who made it onto the dean's list last semester.  in order to make it you need to hold a minimum of an 87% grade point average for the entire semester.  we are super proud of michael as this is no easy feat for anyone let alone a man who has a wife and kid at home.

 here are some of the other smarty pants from his school.

 this is dr. testa, dean of medical sciences, who made a nice speech congratulating these hard working students.  you could tell he was sincerely proud of these high achievers.

 he passed out each of the awards to their recipients and we (including ezra) applauded each and every one of them.  i proudly snapped a quick shot of erica and michael receiving their awards.

 michael sat back down with us, pulled out his award and ezra said, "we got mail."

 after the speeches and handing out of awards there was food.  the line was so long and we thought we should just go home because there wouldn't be anything for us vegans to eat anyways. but, it was chinese food and when we were walking down the hallway to leave i spotted someone carrying a plate of tofu.  i asked the guy, "excuse me, is that tofu?"  and when he said yes, we all turned back and waited in this long line for the food.

 ezra had two pieces of pound cake (go figure) and we all ate the chinese food.  it wasn't the greatest food but it was wonderful to sit with our good friends and to not have to make dinner tonight!

when we returned home there was this beautiful sunset waiting for us to see.  a perfect end to a celebratory day.
